In the Name of God Amen I Joseph Bishop of of the parish of Nottoway 
and coubty of Southampton County being of Sound mind & memory body do make and ordain 
this my Last Will and Testament revoking all gormer will by me made in manner 
and form following 
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Ann Bishop the use of all my 
estate upon this plantation where on I now live during her natural life 
I give and bequeath to my said son Mark Bishop all my joinerss and carpenters 
tools after my beloved wife's decd to him and his heirs 
I give and bequeath to my said son Daniel Bishop all my Coopers ??? stocking 
Tools after the decd of my beloved wife's to him and his heirs 
I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Bishop one cow after the death 
of my beloved wife's decd to her and her heirs 
I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Wells one cow after the death 
of my beloved wife to her and her heirs 
I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Holt twenty shillings after the 
decd of my beloved wife to her and her heirs 
I give and bequeath to my son William Bishop one black walnut desk 
after the decd of my beloved wife to hin and his heirs 
My Will and desire is that after all my debts and legacies be paid that 
my wife Ann have the use of the remainder of my estate of what nature 
or kind soever during her natural life and after her decd to be sold & equally 
divided between my two sons Mark bishop and Daniel Bishop to them 
and their heirs forever
I do here Bruh constitute an appoint my beloved wife Ann Bishop and my son 
William Bishop executors of this my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof 
I hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of September 1796

           At a Court held for the County of Southampton on 15th day of 
May 1797   This Will was proved by the oath of Henry David one of the witnesses & ordered 
to be recorded And on the motion of Edmund Marks / the executor refuseth to take 
upon themselves the burden of the execution thereof / who made oath according to 
Law administration is granted him giving bond & & whereupon &c
